Eidolon I has been nominated in the Collected Work category of the 2007 Ditmar Awards for 2006.

The award will be be decided by voting members of Convergence, the 2007 Australian National SF Convention, to be held in Melbourne in June.

Margo Lanagan's "A Fine Magic" has been reprinted in Rich Horton's Fantasy: The Best of the Year 2007.

Horton's "Virtual Best of 2006" lists "A Fine Magic" alongside Alastair Ong's "The Legend of Greatmother June" and Jeff VanderMeer's "My Report on the Secret Life of Shane Hamill".

Eidolon I available again in original edition

The original Australian edition of Eidolon I is available again by mailorder from Justin Ackroyd's Slow Glass Books and from a small number of specialist bookstores.

The US edition continues to be available online from Amazon.

Two Eidolon I stories in Australian Shadows Shortlist

The Australian Shadows award, which recognises excellence in Horror writing by Australians, included Deborah Biancotti's "The Dying Light" and Carol Ryles' "The Bridal Bier" in its 2006 shortlist.

The winner of the 2006 award, the novel The Pilo Family Circus by Will Elliott, was announced on 16-March-07.

The 2006 Aurealis Award for Best Fantasy Short Story was awarded to Margo Lanagan's "A Fine Magic", first published in Eidolon I, at a ceremony in Fortitude Valley, Queensland last night. (See complete results below.)

Four Eidolon I stories join BSFA Nominees

Members of the British Science Fiction Association have nominated four stories from Eidolon I for the 2006 BSFA Awards.

Hal Duncan's "The Angel of Gamblers", Lucy Sussex's "The Revenant", Chris Lawson's "Hieronymous Boche" and Holly Phillips's "Gin" were all nominated in the Short Fiction category of the Awards.

Six Eidolon I stories in Aurealis Awards Shortlist

Six stories original to Eidolon I have been included in the shortlist for the 11th annual Aurealis Awards, a jury award administered under the auspices of Fantastic Queensland.

Margo Lanagan's "A Fine Magic" and Lucy Sussex's "The Revenant" have been shortlisted as Fantasy, and Carol Ryles' "The Bridal Bier" has received an Honourable Mention in the same category. Chris Lawson's "Hieronymous Boche" has been shortlisted as Horror, and both Deborah Biancotti's "The Dying Light" and Simon Brown's "Leviathan" have been shortlisted in the Young Adult category. Following its Australian launch at Continuum, Eidolon I was released to the wider world at LACon IV.

The Wildside Press edition of the anthology (available through Amazon.com) features a cover design by Australian Garry Nurrish.

Eidolon I Launch Details

Eidolon Books have announced details of the launch of Eidolon I, edited by Jonathan Strahan and Jeremy G Byrne, at Melbourne’s Continuum.

Eidolon I will be launched by UK author Charles Stross shortly after 8pm on Friday, 4th August 2006 at a champagne launch party in the foyer of the Victoria Hotel, 215 Little Collins Street, Melbourne, VIC.

The launch will be attended by Eidolon I cover artist Shaun Tan and contributing author Margo Lanagan, both guests of honour at Continuum. A number of other Eidolon I authors will also be in attendance.

Eidolon Books have announced that the launch of original anthology Eidolon I has been rescheduled to take place at Continuum, in Melbourne, during the weekend of 04-09 August, 2006.

Eidolon Books will debut its original anthology series with the launch of Eidolon I at the Australian National SF Convention, Conjure, in Brisbane, during the weekend of 14-17 April, 2006.

Eidolon series editor Jonathan Strahan will appear as a Special Guest of the convention, and will be available for signings after the launch. Please check this website for additional details closer to the event.

The launch at Conjure was cancelled following delays in the production of the book.
